Height: 33.2 inches, similar to Superb, shorter than AC Barrie

Maturity: 1 day earlier than AC Barrie and Harvest

Lodging: Good resistance

PEACE (Canterra Seeds)

A good potential early wheat for the Peace region, large kernel size, high protein equal to Harvest.

Yield: Good potential, particularly the Parkland and Peace River regions, 2005 Alberta Agriculture Variety trials (*limited data)104% of Barrie in Area 5

Hard White Wheat

This class of wheat is a new offering for Canada to compete in markets that desire a bright white color wheat for their products. White wheats are similar to the hard red wheats in maturity, yields and growth habit. The CWB has an Identity Preserved Program for 2005/06 through Patterson Grain and Cargill Ltd.

VARIETY DESCRIPTION:
Snowbird is a hard white spring wheat that has similar quality and agronomic performance to CWRS wheat, but with a lighter (bran) seed coat. The lighter bran offers whiter coloured flour. Snowbird has very good yields, good harvestability, and good tolerance to sprouting.

Kanata is a Canadian Western Hard White (CWHW) wheat which has similar quality and agronomic performance to the CWRS class of wheat, but with a lighter (bran) seed coat. Kanata is early maturing, has very good harvestability, good tolerance to sprouting and fair resistance to fusarium head blight (FHB).
